Mid-December 2000 saw a cheery group of 19 IMC members attending the customary pre -Christmas meet at Mill Cottage, by Feshiebridge. The good attendance was matched by good weather, and on Saturday several groups ascended a variety of hills such as A’Chaillich,
and both the Newtonmore and Kingussie Creag Dubhs. Short hill days meant an early meeting in the Royal Hotel in Kingussie, where an over-refreshed group of Angus, Peter R, Robin and Jim C claimed to have taken Ewen’s
car to the top of their Creag Dubh. This extravagant behaviour was continued later on in the evening, when after a superb meal including Red Cabbage a la Andreas, Lamb stew a la Leonie, and a birthday cake for the later baked by Sharon, Peter R was observed bursting balloons with lit matches carried by paper airplanes. He claims that he was forced to do it by others unnamed who had imbibed even more freely than himself.
The good weather continued into Sunday, when some headed for Glen Feshie and others for Glen Banchor and yet more ascents of A’Caillich, although not by the same party as the previous day. Another excellent meet; may there be many more like it.
