The club managed to muster 11 people for this event- 9 members plus a brother of one, with friend.
The weather was kind with only a short, sharp shower which helped cool the food and dampen two
who chose to climb. After the barbeque an excellent bonfire was enjoyed until the incoming tide sent some members
home whilst 7 remained to camp above the beach. Sunday was an even better day, weather-wise.
Whilst two members went home, with a car loaded with large rocks for the garden, the remaining
five walked along the shore to the quarry above
Cove Bay to view the dinosaur footprints. The
return was made via Hopeman for ice-creams.
The only cause for concern was that two
members, voluntarily, immersed themselves in
the sea. Are these the sort of people who should
be encouraged into the more hazardous
mountains? One of them was even a committee
member! No wonder the pub is having such a
problem with the Thursday night venue, but
that’s a completely different can of worms. The
BBQ was good.
