A high voltage power line is planned to run from Ullapool to Beauly. The proposed route would go along Loch Broom, passed Corrieshalloch Gorge and along the A 835. Thsi will threaten to spoil many viewpoints in the area and can be seen from Ullapool, Beinn Dearg, Gleann Mor viewpoint and the Fannichs. Some stats:
- 400 kVolt overhead power lines
- 50 metres high with a distance of 300 metres between them
- will spoil many view points in the area
- There are alternative: undersea and underground
