By private arrangement we hired a boat from Arnisdale to cross the loch to Barrisdale on a dark, stormy, Friday evening. We bothied at the White House and the amenities were much improved on last year, the generator provided us with electric lights and there was sufficient hot water for the bath! However we preferred the romantic light from our envia ble fire and candles and Fay preferred the water in the river!
As is the usual thing for mountaineering meets, many hills were climbed, including Meall Buidhe, Luinne Beinn and Ladhar Bheinn, and the views were fantastic on both days.
Sunday evening, most of us set off to meet our boat. It was a lovely evening, so we did not seem to mind that the boat was late by over an hour, and besides, Barry kept us all entertained by becoming marooned on an island as the tide came in! Perhaps his thought were with the folk of Inverness, who unknown to us had been the victims of flash flooding and storms and thus our journey home was made slightly longer than anticipated negotiating diversions around floods and landslides.
