Present: Jo Kinghorn, Steve Bell, Albert Higginbottom, Peter Biggar, Andreas Heinzl, Joanne Simpson
Apologies: Bob Brown, David Cameron
Minutes of Last Meeting: accepted
Matters Arising: Moray Mountaineering Club has sent us a letter with details on how to join their bus meets. IMC members can call Trish Carter on 01343 546603 to boot. We agreed to charge in future for all meets £5.00/person/night and will be annually reviewed. Peter checked the constitution and according to it we don't need an approval from the members. Steve has offered to make membership cards for this year, which will be in colour and laminated. President's Report: Peter felt privileged to follow in previous president's footsteps. He sees the priorities to be organising meets, members want to go to and good communication with members. Peter thanks Alec Sutherland for the picture he donated at the AGM. The fees for using the climbing wall are gone up to £4.50 and the swipe card is £10 (£3.50 if already registered). The climbing wall committee will meet soon due to this. Ken Martin is willing to continue representing us in the climbing wall committee.
Secretary's Report: Andreas will be reorganising the material he received from Peter and get rid of unneeded and old 3rd party material. Also will make new members forms with a section where they can state where they have heard of the IMC. A new member pack needs to be organised too. The website continues to receive between 100 and 150 individual visitors per month. Emails from people to be interested in the club is a bit quiet but getting some junk mail and emails not concerning the club. The latter one gets a standard reply.
Treasurer's Report: Jo was organising getting the bank details changed. The terms of mandate have been changed to: The Old School, Bunchrew, Inverness, IV3 8RQ, 01463 715382. Signers have been changed from Alastair Kinghorn to Peter Biggar, from Ewen Macniven to Jo Kinghorn and from Sharon Beck to Albert Higginbottom. Jo also will get the members list from Ewen. We need to get subs in fast so we can issue membership cards to members for the Tiso discount evening on 29 April 2003.
Meets Secretary's Report: After some controversy over £10 Albert stated that Lagangarbh broke even. SMC members staying on an IMC meet at a SMC hut don't need to pay and therefore we don't need to pay the custodian for them either. It is thought that Ewen has the Skye bridge tickets which we need to obtain. Raeburn hut is cancelled now. Peter suggested that the Torrin meet in May would be good for a communal meal or BBQ. We agreed to have the club BBQ on 5th July in Cummingston. The fees for the Achnahaird camp meet will be confirmed as there was in the past a strange system were you pay for a car and a little more for additional people. Peter suggested to have another meet for 10th/11th October in Glencoe area (preferably not Blackrock). We also confirmed all other forthcoming meets on the list for 2003/04.
Annual Dinner: Peter wanted to confirm first what we are going to do for this year's annual dinner. The club seems to be very divided about whether we should have just a dinner or dinner + dance or just a communal meal. Most in the committee felt that it suppose to be a special event and shouldn't be a communal meal especially since we got some other occasions for that already. We decided to have a dinner as usual with a chance for 'home-grown' music to be performed. The club was also divided on whether the dinner should be in Inverness or in a mountain area. However the tendency was a little more towards 'mountain areas'. Peter made clear that it should be rather towards the west and north, since these areas would be more favourite with members and are easy and fast accessible from Inverness. Committee members would make enquiries about possible venues and catering arrangements.
Shenevall: Alastair inspected Shenevall last weekend and figured that it needs some patching work to be done. Most work is indoors, so that bad weather wouldn't be an excuse not to go. He also will be at next week's MBA meeting. The MBA is calling our work meets at Shenevall a 'clean-up' meet. Peter thought we need to make sure that the MBA understands our work meets at Shenevall are more than just 'clean-up' meets. We need as many people there as possible to get the work done and it was mentioned that a BBQ would be a good idea too. Peter thanked Alastair for all the work he is doing regarding Shenevall.
A.O.C.B.: The Library is still with Ewen. We need to ask him if he wants to keep it for now.
Date of next Meeting: Tuesday, 27th May 2003 at Joanne's
